b. When substances are cooked with certain ingredients, this can change the color, texture, appearance and much more in food. We know this is a chemical process as this reaction only happens with certain combinations, similar to a chemical reaction. With knowledge of what is in certain foods and the reactions caused between certain chemicals, this can easily be explained. In my experiment, I combined olive oil and apple cider vinegar to cause a separation. I wanted to see if mixing these ingredients aggressively, not at all and with an emulsifier would change the taste, texture and appearance. I also wanted to see peoples opinions of the best method over a simple salad. Unfortunately, I did not perform my experiment on my peers, but instead my family who are known to not enjoy salads often. The non mixed dressing was the least favorable, while the textures were the same in the others although the taste was off with the emulsifier. This was a chemical reaction as you could see how the liquids mixed after adding an emulsifier and when one was not present.
d. With both cooking and science, one must experiment to achieve a goal, as well as hypothesis what will be the result. Both also must have an understanding of chemicals and how they react to each other, as well as knowledge of elements. Cooking involves more of a taste and texture importance in people while science usually doesn't involve ingesting chemicals. A cook would work to prepare food as well as being creative with ingredients and chemicals to make a correct product, a food scientist is no different. A food scientist most likely works in a lab while a cook may work at a restaurant or private space. Food scientists usually also work for large companies who are looking to mass produce a product at the cheapest price. Cooks may vary, and can make the same foods in a different way or with a different amount of ingredients, but also usually work for a company.
Water Quality in the Animas River watershed: Reflection Questions:
What was the opinion of my peers of how the exhibition went? Was the community excited by the projects? Reflection: In my 'game' but mostly map of the upcoming wastewater treatment plant, I learned more than ever as I had to design the architecture involved in the plant. Also, I learned the steps to the treatment process. one being that the water is screened so all large objects like rocks and wood are removed. The water is also pumped from your home to the plant through gravity, making it step two. Step three is aeration, or exposing the sewage to air, forcing all other materials such as coffee grounds to settle while the sewage is decaying. Step four and five are similar, removing sludge, the sewage, and scum being the lighter materials such as oil. The final step is killing the bacteria, making it safe and clean, then pumping it back into the river. I believe I have had growth in the aspect of design and unity. Also, C# was not the language I was most fond of or familiar with, so it forced me to learn more and get accustomed to it. Water quality is important to learn about so we know how our water is cleaned, how to remove particles safely from dirty water and how to test water for certain chemicals. Water is an important factor to humans and the earth's health, so learning about this is important to me.

Elevator Pitch
We created a Virtual Reality walkthrough of the new water reclamation facility that will be completed in 2019. To begin the game, we show a layout and general plan of the new facility while later stages will include short interactive games where participants will be able to choose certain “characters” such as: negative bacteria, solids, liquids and soaps, and the water itself in order to experience the process of water reclamation from several different perspectives, with the goal of informing not only Durango’s citizens but surrounding cities and counties as well.
I want the audience to leave with the following:
We would like our audience to feel as though they have walked away from our game with obviously more prior knowledge about the improved water reclamation process, but also the willingness to spread their newfound knowledge with other individuals who couldn’t attend our presentation.
The Future Water Reclamation Facility in Virtual Reality: What story does our exhibit tell?
The new Durango Water Reclamation Facility is a creation that has warranted much praise in the eyes of our community. The safety and cleanliness of one of Durango’s main sources of water and recreation is exceedingly important in the eyes of our community as well as the communities that are downstream from our current treatment facility. When beginning our project, we found it core to capitalize on community interest in the new facility, which brought us to the medium of Virtual Reality. We felt as though the new facility should be shown off with a new medium. Our prototype consists of a video game recreation of the new Water Reclamation Facility, with the hope that communities who rely on the Animas River will gain new insight and knowledge about the layout and operations of the new facility. We also believe that the concept of a virtual tour through the plant would interest younger generations who interact with technology throughout a vast majority of the day. These combined factors will hopefully spark more interest in the eyes of the community, and continue to keep citizens conscientious about keeping their water clean. The game will include a virtual walkthrough of the updated facility, and will also give users the chance to view the entire process from the eyes of negative bacteria, solids, liquids, soaps, and dirty water. This aspect of the game has been planned and designed with the intention of not only gaining knowledge ourselves, but to also inform citizens about the difficulty of cleaning exceedingly contaminated water. We designed our game with learning and discovery in mind. Much of what is shown in the game were, at one point, foreign concepts to our entire class, which is why we felt that all of us, not only our youth, should learn about the process of water reclamation and the steps they can take to keep their water clean.
Target Audience:
Our exhibit is aimed at anyone who would like to experience the new facility and the path that certain things take in the water reclamation process. Our game is designed for people of all levels of knowledge as well, since we feel as though you are never too young, too old, or too inexperienced to learn or experience video games.
Defense - Why should our exhibit be features at the Santa Rita Water Reclamation Facility?
We believe that our exhibit should be featured in the Santa Rita Water reclamation facility because we are presenting information and a learning experience with a new and innovative medium. It is important that the upgrades and renovations to the current facility, are accompanied by new and exciting gadgets as well, with the hope that the process of water reclamation gains more eyes and interest.
